From the Treaty of Versailles in 1783 giving definitively the ownership of these islands in England, their history and their governance were often gathered by Colonial Service.
This union confirmed and became definitive within the framework of the federation St Kitts-Nevis in 1983, by declaring their independence.
Highly-rated economic resources, and in spite of the decline of the sugar cane, 2 islands continued to remain mainly agricultural, but the tourism takes a dominating place today.
ST KITTS
By giving its own first name to St Christophe, Christopher Columbus could not know that it would become " the island Mother " Lesser Antilles, where from left all the French and British colonists to conquer the nearby islands.
The relief of the island is dominated by two volcanic massifs, and the vegetation which recovers it varies according to the height.
Reconstructed in the XIXth century following a geometrical plan running to the Antilles, its houses of tone pastel, framed by porches with balustrades, give her a very British charm.
Hand Road, the unique circular road, goes along almost whole lot of the coast of the island, On the hill of Brimstone Hill, fortress of grey stone, the point of view on the sea and on the neighbouring islands offer an impressive panorama.

NEVIS
The history of Nevis, Oualie in Amerindian, is closely linked to Saint-Kitts. In 1493, Christopher Columbus named her Las Nieves because the frequent clouds which crown Nevis Peak give the illusion of snowy summits.
This small island also owes its fame has some illustrious men who stayed there.
Nelson married on March 11th, 1787 a young widow of the island, Frances Herbert Nisbet and Alexander Hamilton, one of the founders of the constitution of the USA there, was born to Charlestown, on January 11th, 1757.
The peaceful atmosphere of Nevis and the peace of mind of its landscape attracted, for several years already, an Anglo-Saxon clientele (especially of rich retired people). Former exploitations were restored in apartment hotels of charm, lined with greenery and luxurious complexes built themselves along the coast downwind.
CHARLESTOWN
The main city of the island, partially destroyed by a fire in 1873, counts less than 2000 inhabitants and maintains an almost casual quiet atmosphere.
